History of Aikido
Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art, developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969). The fundamental principle behind this extremely effective method of self defence is the harmonizing of energy. By blending with the opponent's attack, the force can be safely redirected, resulting in a throw or pin.
On a deeper level, Aikido provides insights into the inter-connectedness of all things through the study of Ki (life force).
This results in a deep and abiding sense of respect for other people and the world at large. Ultimately, Aikido provides us with the means to peacefully resolve conflict and to avoid violence.
Aikido is a martial art that can be practiced by all people, kids and adults, regardless of age or gender.
